Beard, South America

There comes a point in every mans life when you should at least try and grow a beard. On a number of occasions I've tried in the past and failed. If you've never tried to grow one, it can get very itchy after about a week. This usually lasts about a week until the hairs manage to grow out a little.

To try and get round this I decided to not take my razor to the jungle, thinking that it will be incredible uncomfortable anyway. A little itching when compared to all the mossie bites and heat shouldn't be too much of an additional hardship.

To document what growth there's been after a week, I took a picture just before setting off into the jungle and one when I returned. The photo above was probably after a week of not shaving...

After the jungle.... A bit more beard like... :) Finally got through the itchy stage.

I also decided to get a haircut, as the photos probably show it was needed a bit. Went into a random hairdressers in the old town in Quito. After a few language difficulties she got to work. Pretty good for about 20 minutes and $1.50. She looked pretty bemused when I tried to offer a $1 tip, I hope this wasn't because she thought it didn't warrant it.

Chez new barnet... More beard news soon, when we are back from the Galapagos.
