Playa del Carmen, Mexico

We stayed for 4 nights in Playa del Carmen in a cabana (beach hut) which was right on the beach. It did have a bathroom and electricity but was pretty basic! Playa is a very touristy expensive place to stay so the beach hut was a cheap and cheerful option. The location was great even if the cold showers weren´t!

The beach at Playa is amazing - white sand and green water. For some reason the sand doesn´t get hot but the sea does.. well warm anyway :)
It is full of Americans and it was pretty hard to practice our few words of Spanish as everyone spoke English!

We signed up for a diving course which we had planned to do, and there were many many places to choose from. We went for one that was recommended and they were good, but diving was not for us! Jon managed more than me - I didn´t even get further than the swimming pool before deciding that I´d stick to snorkelling.
